Very closed to the Castilho District, originally named because of its trees, it is nowadays famous for its shopping center and respective towers designed by Tomás Taveira with stunning views over the city.
The Amoreiras garden is a very pleasant place surrounded by a roman aqueduct.
The eponymous shopping center is the best of Lisbon, good shops, French actual movies and the supermarket is one of the favorites of the Lisbon middle high society. In front of it, the French school brings to the neighborhood the French community as it happens in Conde de Orgaz, Madrid or South Kensington, London. No night life here but a busy day life and a very secure area thanks to the closing time of the shopping center at 11PM and the neighbors 5* hotels, like D. Pedro and Epic Sana.
The former Prime Minister Sá Carneiro used to live in Dom João V but other distinguished persons have also chosen this neighborhood. In fact It’s a kind of XVIe arrondissement of Paris. The Amoreiras garden hides small villas very desirable but difficult to find for sale. The building Meia lua in the back of Rato with stunning views apartments are an other example of properties that were sold very quickly.
The sqm price is similar to the Castilho District but it’s more difficult to find apartments here, the offer is lower, no modern constructions, and the best deal will be buying an old apartment to rebuild but, since it’s what everybody looks for in the area, if you get the chance to find one, don’t hesitate too long!
